You may have already heard and read about how Lean Six Sigma benefits businesses and individual careers. But how exactly does Lean Six Sigma aid in business breakthroughs? What are the examples of business breakthroughs that Lean Six Sigma enabled? We'll tackle this topic using the achievements of our new breed of Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt professionals.

  • Improved Turn-around Time (TAT)

Improve the processes to shorten their TATs - resulting in better productivity.

  • Decreased Product Defects and Improved Customer Experience

Identify the root causes of product or service defects and proposes practical and sustainable solutions.

  • Cost Savings

Cost savings can be in hard savings such as money or soft savings such as increased productivity.

  • Exceeded Performance

Lean Six Sigma promotes a culture of excellence and collaboration in a company.

Improved Turn-around Time (TAT)

Lean Six Sigma helps improve turnaround time by looking at the process/es involved in delivering both internal and external requirements. Most companies take turnaround times or TATs as a major metric or key performance indicator (KPI) to measure one's performance. If a team or a member has a Lean Six Sigma certification, chances are they would improve the processes they do to shorten their TATs - resulting in better productivity.

Decreased Product Defects and Improved Customer Experience

It is not uncommon in any industry that there will be defects in products or services. However, through Lean Six Sigma, defects can be reduced to a minimum or below the number a company can tolerate. Lean Six Sigma helps identify the root causes of product or service defects and proposes practical and sustainable solutions. Addressing these root causes will inevitably result in a better product or service, leading to improved customer experience and value.

Engr. Jessa Roanne Bustamante, CLSSGB

A number of our Certified Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and Black Belt alumni have completed their projects to address product or service defects. One of these projects is from Engr. Jessa Roanne Bustamante, CLSSGB, whose project reduced the rejection of cavendish bananas in the Agriculture sector. She saved her organization around PHP 0.4 million through her project.

Engr. Altair Urbien, CLSSGB

Another project that exhibited this was the project from Engr. Altair Urbien, CLSSGB. His project was all about reducing rejected printed items due to print defects in the Manufacturing industry. Al's project reduced the company defects by 50%, translating into up to 75% annual savings. His project also resulted in soft savings such as reword reduction, the development of highly-skilled workers, increased output, and customer satisfaction.

Cost Savings

Perhaps one of the most prominent advantages of Lean Six Sigma, cost savings is obviously the most sought-after result. Cost savings can be in hard savings such as money or soft savings such as increased productivity, and Lean Six Sigma can help produce both types! Because of the analytical nature of Lean Six Sigma, professionals and practitioners can measure exactly the amount of savings a project can guarantee the company.

Mr. Richard Caluag, CLSSBB

One of the best examples of this is our student Mr. Richard Caluag, CLSSBB's project in the Telecommunications industry. His Enterprise Process Improvement of IT Asset's Life Cycle project saved his company roughly PHP 59 million.

Exceeded Performance

Exceeded performance is not just limited to the immediate project team members; performance outside the project team is also affected by Lean Six Sigma! This is because Lean Six Sigma affects the whole organization and its culture. Lean Six Sigma promotes a culture of excellence and collaboration in a company.

Ms. Mary Joyce Doria-Bautista, CPA, CLSSBB

This advantage was shown in the Retail industry in our Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Ms. Mary Joyce Doria-Bautista's project called "Sales Invoice Issuance (Timeliness, Completeness, and Accuracy) Process Improvement Project." Her project helped members in the organization perform better to meet the service level agreement (SLAs) and KPIs, resulting in better productivity and higher efficiency. Additionally, her project helped save PHP 4.7 million as validated by their Finance Team.
